Bureau of Epidemiology. Thailand:Avian Influenza surveillance in human as at October 18, 2004. Bureau of General Communicable Disease
Bureau of Epidemiology on October 18, 2004 at 6:00 P.M. had received the reports of 1,019 influenza or pneumonia patients from 66 provinces in the avian influenza surveillance network since 1 July 2004 (details in Table 1 and Annex). The preliminary investigation results summary are as follow:
- Confirmed cases are 4, of which 3 are dead; Two from Kampaengphet and 1 each from Prachinburi and Phetchabun (table 1).
- Probable case is 1, from Kampaengphet (table 1).
- Suspect case are 2; One in Kampaengphet and another is new report case, 14 years old female, resident of Moo5, Tambon PaNgue, Srisatchanalai district, Sukothai, who had the onset on October 8, 2004. Her rapid test showed positive result and has been given antivirus drug. She had no history of direct contact with the chickens, of which abnormal deaths had been observed during the end of September. Now she is waiting for laboratory confirmation from Medical Science Department (detail in table 1).
- New cases are 25 from 16 provinces.
- Cases on investigate are 116:
Central: Eight from Suphanburi, 6 from Lopburi, 5 from PranakhonSiAyutthaya, 3 each from Sakaeo, Prachubkirikhun and Chainat, 2 each from Angthong, Bangkok Metropolis, Kanchcnaburi, Nakhonpathom and Rayong, and 1 each from Singburi, Ratchaburi, Prachinburi and Samutprakarn.
North: Twelve from Pichit, 7 each from Nakhonsawan and Kampaengphet, 6 from Sukothai, 4 from Phetchabun, 3 from Lampang, 2 each from Chaingrai and Tak, and 1 each from Maehongson and Uthaithani.
Northeast: Three each from Kalasin and Ubonratchathani, 2 each from Srisaket, Chaiyaphoum, NakhonRatchasima and Udonthani, and 1 each from Loei, Nongbualumphu, Mukdahan, Khonkaen, Burirum and Surin.
South: Two each from Krabi, Pattaniand and Satun, and 1 each from Songkla, Nakhonsithammarat and Phang Nga. - Sixteen cases are excluded today: hence, excluded cases, as at today are 896.
