Affected population: on 16 Oct 2021, a sample from a common teal
(_Anas crecca_) was collected as part of the Danish active
surveillance program for HPAI near Vilslev in the municipality of
Esbjerg. Confirmed infection with highly pathogenic influenza A virus (H5N1) in the sample.

Eurasian wigeon (_Anas Penelope_): Anatidae-Anseriformes / - / 1 / 0 /

Affected population: on 13 Oct 2021, a pooled sample of bird
droppings from 10 Eurasian wigeons (_Anas Penelope_) was taken as part
of the Danish active surveillance program for HPAI near Hojer in the
municipality of Tonder. On 22 Oct 2021, confirmed infection with highly pathogenic influenza A virus (H5N1) in the pooled sample.

Epidemiology
Source of the outbreak(s) or origin of infection: contact with wild
species.
Epidemiological comments: according to article 10.4.1.4 of the
Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Member Countries should not impose
bans on the trade in poultry commodities in response to notification
on the presence of any influenza A virus in birds other than poultry.
