guinea fowl, ducks, and quail.
Epidemiology
Source of the outbreak(s) or origin of infection: unknown or
inconclusive
Epidemiological comments: some 39 farms were identified in the village
of Mondoukou. Samples were taken from three farms and found to be
positive for the H5N1 avian influenza virus. The remaining 36 farms
showed the same symptoms as the 3 farms that were diagnosed and also
experienced mortality. Overall, the mortality observed was around
56.7% and varied according to species: broilers (63.4%), layers (26%),
traditional chickens (65%), guinea fowl (98.8%), ducks (32%), turkeys
(7.5%), and quails (35%).
