Follow-up Report No. 12 (Case 42-50) As of the outbreak 1 (Sousa-City 2) in this report (Case 42): On 3rd February 2021, local veterinary service in Chiba Pref. received notification from a layer farm and confirmed influenza A virus by antigen-capture kits. On 4th, LHSC confirmed H5 by RT-PCR and RRT-PCR. On 5th, NIAH confirmed H5N8 HPAI by RT-PCR and sequencing. On 7th, stamping-out was completed. An epidemiologically related farm in Asahi-City was identified and all poultry was subjected to preventive culling. On 17th, stamping-out was completed. As of the outbreak 2 (Asahi-City 1) in this report (Case 43): On 5th February 2021, local veterinary service in Chiba Pref. received notification from a layer farm and confirmed influenza A virus by antigen-capture kits. On 6th, LHSC confirmed H5 by RT-PCR and RRT-PCR. On 9th, NIAH confirmed H5N8 HPAI by RT-PCR and sequencing. On 14th, stamping-out was completed. Movement and shipment restrictions have been imposed on these farms within a radius of 3 km and 3-10 km of the affected farm, respectively.
