Epidemiological comments
The information about the dead wild bird was received in the framework of enhanced passive surveillance. The wild bird was collected and delivered to the National Reference Laboratory – National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute. On 11 February, the mute swan was found positive to avian influenza type A. The sequence of the HA gene in the virus, which was found in the wild bird, was similar to that of the highly pathogenic H5N8 virus, with the same highly pathogenic cleavage site (PLREKRRKR/GLF).
