Affected population
On January 1st 2021, highly pathogenic avian influenza (subtype H5N8) was confirmed in a poultry holding breeding mallards and pheasants for restocking supplies of game. The population of the holding consisted of 5,976 pheasants, 3,211 mallards, 24 ornamental ducks, 45 ornamental geese, 16 ornamental pheasants and 143 hens. All susceptible animals at the infected holding were killed and the carcasses disposed by rendering on 3rd to 8th January 2021.
