Epidemiological comments
New outbreaks in wild birds are as follows: Outbreak 1 - Oyodo-Town 1 - A dead Accipiter gentilis (Northern goshawk) was collected on 20 December 2020 and tested against avian influenza virus. The Tottori University conducted RT-PCR and gene sequencing tests and confirmed that the subtype of the virus was H5N8. Outbreak 2 - Izumi-City 2 - A weaken Aix galericulata (Mandarin duck) was collected on 22 December 2020 and tested against avian influenza virus. The Kagoshima University conducted RT-PCR and gene sequencing tests and confirmed that the subtype of the virus was H5N8.
