Epidemiological comments
In accordance with the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Article 10.4.1, point 8, this event does not change the disease free status of Sweden as these are wild birds, and therefore do not fall within the OIE definition of poultry. One outbreak in a small non-commercial hobby flock was dianosed 23 december. The flock was kept outdoor within a fenced area. The flock has been defined as a holding with birds other than poultry. Measures necessary in accordance with EU legislation, including stamping out, will immediately be applied in order to prevent any spread of avian influenza. The remaining birds were euthanised 23 December, which will be followed by sanitation measures. There has been no contact with other holdings
