Affected population This is a farm with turkeys for meat production.There are three buildings on the farm. The first one was empty at the date of suspicion, in the second building were 1800 birds with symptoms. In the third building were 3300 animals without symptoms. From 13 November the animal keeper noticed an increased mortality and sick animals.

Epidemiological comments A protection zone (3 km) and a surveillance zone (10 km) have been put in place around the infected farm and the euthanizing of animals has started. All other restrictions and necessary measures according to Directive 2005/94/EG are applied, including a prohibition of transportation of live birds, hatching eggs and not heat-treated poultry products in this area.
