Affected population On January 07th, 2018, backyard poultry抯 owner in Phnom Penh Thmey village, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok, reported high morbidity and mortality of chicken to the General Directorate of Animal Health and Production (GDAHP). Three samples from chickens which died suddenly were collected by National Animal Health and Production Research Institute (NAHPRI) staff. All samples were sent to the NAHPRI laboratory for diagnosis and confirmation. On January 09th, 2018, the laboratory result confirmed the positivity to avian influenza H5N1. All susceptible birds in the infected premises have been culled.
