On November 8th, three tufted ducks (Aythya fuligula) and two Great crested grebes (Podiceps cristatus) were found dead in a wetland area. On November 10th the national reference laboratory confirmed HPAI Virus H5N8 in the samples from the tufted ducks and Great crested grebes. The Netherlands has ordered compulsory confinement of all commercial poultry in The Netherlands. |
