The HFPC of Jiangxi province reported today (Jan 8) that a H5N6 positive case was found during the routine surveillance of severe pneumonia cases.

The patient, male, 42 years old, lived in Jieyang city of Guangdong province, who had lived poultry market exposure and contact history tested positive for H5N6 and confirmed by the national CDC on Jan 7. The patient died in hospital in Ganzhou city of Jiangxi province on 21th, Dec. All close contacts showed no symptoms.
