Epidemiological comments | As part of the continuous avian influenza surveillance programme, Chungcheongnam-do Veterinary Research Institute tested the samples (faeces and laryngo-pharyngeal swabs) collected from ducks in the farm located in Changso-ri, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do on 5 October. Haemagglutination test results were positive on 15 October. The National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service (NVRQS) found avian influenza antigen (H7N7) by PCR on 15 October and confirmed it as low pathogenic avian influenza virus (H7N7) by gene sequencing on 16 October. Note by the OIE Animal Health Information Department: H5 and H7 avian influenza in its low pathogenic form in poultry is a notifiable disease as per Chapter 10.4. on avian influenza of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (2010). |
