Canada: Swine flu at Kitchener turkey operation

That confirmation came late Tuesday from the company.
An official with Hybrid Turkeys tells us they noticed something was wrong when there was a drop off in egg production.
Science and Technology Manager, Helen Wojcinski tells 570 News the birds likely got the virus from some workers who were suffering from cold-like symptoms.
Ontario´s Chief Veterinarian, Dr. Deb Stark told an afternoon news conference they first became aware of the situation on Friday.
Ontario´s Chief Medical Officer of Health. Dr. Arlene King says the risk to human health is minimal, adding there is no risk to food safety.
She says no birds or eggs from the farm have entered the food chain.
Last April, swine flu appeared in pigs on an Alberta farm and has since been found in other swine herds in the country.
Chile has confirmed cases of swine flu in turkeys as well.
