Epidemiology

Source of the outbreak(s) or origin of infection
  • Contact with wild species
Epidemiological comments Samples were received on 17 and 20 June 2008. Culling and disposal of birds along with disinfection of the infected premises were carried out on 22 June 2008 by the Rapid Response Team and a State veterinarian. The premise was closed for one month. Monitoring of the areas is ongoing.
Ring vaccination with an H5 inactivated monovalent vaccine in a one-km-radius zone around the affected isolated farm is ongoing.
