No cases of bird flu have been discovered in Kuwait since April 21, the official KUNA news agency quoted a spokesman at the Health Ministry as saying on Saturday.
Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of a seminar on bird flu, the spokesman, Dr. Ahmad Al-Shatti said the rising temperatures helped stop the disease-causing H5N1 virus from spreading.
He told KUNA the authorities would soon declare Kuwait to be clear of the bird flu epidemic.
According to the report, the World Health Organization (WHO) requires the passing of six weeks from the discovery of the latest bird flu case before declaring an area clear of the disease.
